Domestic
Domestic Staffing treats our applicants with the same respect as we do the client. We place child caregivers, chefs/cooks, housekeepers, senior caregivers, personal assistants, pet caregivers, tutors, and other domestic professionals. Whether our clients are searching for a nanny, housekeeper or any other domestic help, they all expect a high level of professionalism and depend on the experience you have to offer. A cheerful disposition, a positive attitude, initiative and flexibility are some of the key qualities that will help you in securing a position with a great family or corporation.
REQUIREMENTS FOR DOMESTIC JOBS:
All candidates must have two or more years of verifiable references, which we must be able to notify. You must be able to read, write and speak English fluently, have legal authorization to work in the United States and a driver's license. A car is required for live-out positions, but not for live-in positions. You must agree to a thorough background check.
PLACEMENT PROCESS:
Once you qualify with Domestic Staffing, you will fill out our employment application. You can apply on-line, then we will contact you for a personal interview. When you come into the agency, you must have a detailed history of your past employment, including names, addresses, and phone numbers of former employers. You must have personal identification including drivers license, social security or proof of legal work authorization. If you have a resume and letters of reference, please bring those as well. Based on your information, we match you with clients that meet your needs and theirs. We will provide you with details about the client and what they are looking for. We schedule interviews and follow up with you and the client for feedback. If both parties are interested, we arrange a second interview and possibly a trial day. We like our candidate to work a "trial week", for which you will be paid at agreed salary at the time of hire. This is to "test the waters" to make sure it is a good fit. When you are offered a position, we will assist you in finalizing the details. We have sample employee/employer agreements that, although not mandatory it is highly recommended, you may want to have signed by both parties to avoid any misconceptions of the job description. Upon hire, Domestic Staffing will provide the client with your criminal background check, DMV printout and social security verification, as well as our notes from verification of prior employers. We must have a Release of Information form signed by you to do the background check, which you will be asked to sign when you come in for the initial interview with us. The state requires that all childcare workers have a "physical statement" form completed by a doctor and on file in our office prior to your first day of work. We will provide you with a form at your first interview.
HOW TO INTERVIEW:
The way you present yourself on an interview determines what the client's initial impression of you will be. Remember, you only have one chance to make a good first impression. Dress appropriately and be on time. Bring a copy of your resume and letters of references with you.
The initial interview with a prospective employee is primarily an introduction for you and the client to get to know each other. This is the time to put forth your best. While you are being interviewed by the employer, the employer is also being interviewed by you. Ask pertinent questions regarding the position. We have a list of questions and some tips on acing the interview, which we will provide for you before you go on your first interview.
Discretion is important. Refrain from revealing any personal information about previous employers. Unless the client brings up the details of salary, days off, holidays, vacation time, or sick pay, you should save those topics for the second interview.
After this first meeting, you can make an informed decision if you feel the chemistry is there between you and the family and would like to pursue a second interview. We will provide feedback from the family and will provide them with your feedback and offer any assistance you shall need to help secure the best job that's right for you. To ensure a long-lasting relationship and the best placement, we will never pressure you to take a job you don't want. Also, we will never pressure you to stay in a job that you are unhappy with.
Because we work closely with each applicant to find the best position to fit his/her needs, we also will not knowingly work with clients who are not respectful of their employees. Nor will we work with clients who show warning signs of being difficult or even possibly abusive. We are here for you if you need support or advice, before, during and after your hire.
We strive to make your job search a pleasant and rewarding experience. We do not charge our applicants to register with us or to place them in a position. You will always be treated with professional courtesy.
We are accepting resumes and would love to schedule a time for you to come into our office to meet with us.
