Domestic Staffing is here to help you find someone that is professional and yet with whom it will be easy to build an ongoing personal relationship. We are here for advice and support before, during and after you find that special someone that will accommodate you in all your care giving needs. We will present only the applicants that come closest to matching your needs. We will provide support throughout the entire process and will make the placement process as pleasant, efficient and effective as possible.
PLACEMENT PROCESS
1) Complete and submit the Family Placement Questionnaire:
This quick online form gives us the basics about your family and what you are looking for.
2) Schedule an initial consultation with our staff:
When we receive your on-line form, we will call you to set up an initial appointment to fill out a more extensive application. We will at that time answer any questions you may have about the process. At this time we will collect a $25.00 application fee and have you sign some agreements covering the agency fees, replacement guarantee and extent of our services. This agreement must be on file with us before we schedule any interviews for you with prospective applicants. Also at this time you will be offered a background check on your final selection. Although this isn't mandatory, we strongly urge you to make the small investment in this background check. It includes a Criminal background check, Sexual Offenders Registry, Social Security verification, DMV report, address history, verification of prior employment and the Child Abuse registry. For the safety of your family, your home and your business the $49.00 fee for having this done is a small investment for peace of mind. You will also be given information to make the hiring process easier, e.g. interview questions, what to look for in a good domestic, tax information, evaluation sheets for periodic reviews, forms for reference checks and other useful information. Also at this time you will be added to our mailing list, if you should desire, to receive our quarterly newsletter containing pertinent topics.
3) Selection of Candidates:
We'll review your application and those of our candidates. We will select only those that come closest to meeting your needs. We will email or fax you files of each candidate with information on their qualifications, employment history, education and references. You can review them at your convenience and select those you'd like to meet. If you should have any questions, we are available to answer any questions about individual candidates or other matters.
4) Schedule Interviews:
Because we know you are busy, we will set up appointments for you with the candidates you have chosen to meet and interview. Let us know when you are available and we will confirm the time, date and place with the candidate and confirm that with you. After the interview we will be in touch for feedback from you. We will also share any feedback we have from the candidate on the interview.
5) Final Selection:
Once you have narrowed your choice to two or three candidates, we strongly encourage you to make reference check calls. Although we will have already done this, we urge you to do the same as you may get a different take on the calls than we did. We will provide you with any additional information you need for this check, including our notes on our interview with the references given. We also suggest second interviews to give yourself and your first choice candidates the opportunity to spend a little more time getting to know each other. When you are ready to make an offer, we can help you finalize the details and put everything in writing. Although it isn't mandatory, it is a good idea to have a "contract" with your new employee outlining specifics of the position in order to avoid problems down the road. We have sample agreements for you to aid in this step. For permanent positions, a background check is done when an offer of placement is made. Upon hire, these will be forwarded to you if you have chosen to include those as part of the process.
6) A Trial Week:
We would suggest a trial week for the new employee to give both of you a chance to make sure the best possible situation exists. You will be responsible for paying the employee for that trial week at the agreed upon rate, even if the situation does not work out. If you are both satisfied and a permanent placement is made the Agency Placement Fee will be due and payable at this time. Please see section on Fees and Guarantees.
7) Stay in Touch:
Even with a signed agreement laying out all the specifics of the position and the trial week, sometimes problems can arise. To be sure everything is running smoothly, we will check in periodically with both you and your new employee to see how things are going. If any concerns do come up, you may get in touch with us and we will do all we can to resolve those concerns so a long working relationship can be built. If you need a substitute caregiver, if your permanent one is ill or unable for some other reason to provide you with care on a particular day, call us at least 24 hours in advance and we can provide you with a temporary placement. There is never any additional charge for this service. If up to six months after placement, the employee resigns or is terminated for any reason, we will replace that person at no charge, as many times as necessary, within the six month period. Providing a suitable care giver or a replacement, if that becomes necessary, to our clients is a priority at our Agency.
